1st attempt with a recruiter

I sent my resume, cover letter, and photo off to one recruiter about two weeks ago.  I said in the email I was going on vacation out of the country and would be unavailable by phone for about a week, but would be checking email.  Didn't get an email reply, so I thought maybe they would call once I was back in town.  I'm back, but still no word from the recruiter, which I think is really odd, since they are getting paid to put me in a job.  I guess I will email them to confirm they got my resume, but no communication does not seem like a good sign to me.
